Unfortunately, for those in the UK and parts of Europe, we will hardly be able to see it, if at all. But, even if we cannot view it, we can still connect with its energy. The new moon is on the same day as the solar eclipse, in the same zodiac sign, Aries the Ram.
The constellation of Aries is smaller, ranking as the 11th smallest out of the 12 zodiac constellations. Small but mighty, it was believed since ancient times to be the first because it appears at the beginning of spring. In astrology, this concept still applies, even though astronomers know that the sky changes due to the gravitational effect of the Sun and Moon on Earth’s axis. According to Dr. Maggie Aderin-Pocock, author of “The Art of Stargazing,” the constellation in the sky at the beginning of spring is Pisces, and in 700 years or so, it will be Aquarius.
The truth is that our collective memory still associates spring with Aries and its fire and cardinal energy – regardless if the spring constellation should be the zodiac sign of the Ram or Pisces. Maybe it’s time to re-evaluate what had happened so far, especially this first quarter of 2024; what has worked out, what hasn’t. What needs to change, where are we daring to do something soon, and which tailored steps do we want to take ahead.
The New Moon, the beginning of spring, and the Aries energy itself of “let’s take action now” are softened by the eclipse. Preparation and premeditated steps will be more useful to energise ourselves with the warrior’s energy and impulse. It’s undoubtedly a time for being affirmative with what we want, energising our beings with the conviction that we can do it while checking things out before fully going further. Reaffirmation, conviction with planning are the flames to keep alive during this exceptional interval.
